Giant sequoias

I’ve started to tell you more about the road trip I made in California in February, but then I left to Costa Rica for a week (don’t blame me, winter has been harsh in Boston). I don’t have any pictures of the first stop of the road trip in Los Angeles since the camera was stolen, so here we go, second stop, Sequoia National Park.

The USA has a national park entirely dedicated to sequoias. Yep. That’s crazy, but why not. Every thing is BIGGER here. Sequoia National Park is the second oldest national park, created in 1890. It’s amazing to think about the fact that some of these trees have been around for thousands of years. They could have met JESUS.

The weather was warm, but many roads were closed, specially on the East side, where is Kings Canyon. But even if we didn’t have a full access to the park, we saw some pretty good stuff.

Sequoias don’t die because they are old or because of pests, but because they fall!

General Sherman, one of the many celebrities of the park

In the park, we saw many huge trees, huge because they are old. You need to be fat and old to get the ultimate status: a general name. General Sherman is the biggest tree in the world, in volume, and then  it’s one of the biggest attraction of the park, and everybody wants a pic with it!
