Today’s blog is also about a French expatriate in the USA, Maud’s, called Cincinnati, Cincinnatus. When I found out her blog, I read it entirely in a row. I love her tone, her easy way to talk of her daily life. And Maud lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, for once it’s different for all the blogs I’ve read, most of them are based in Florida, California or New York (that’s how you figured the USA as an European I guess). Maud answered to my questions.
Who are you? Well… I’m 32 years old… I’ve been living in Cincinnati for one year…
Why did you left France to live in Ohio? To be honest, I didn’t plan to leave for Ohio. First I thought about New York or San Francisco (as everybody does), and then we’ve got an opportunity in Cincinnati, and we wanted to discover the Midwest.
How is your life in the Midwest? Very quiiiiiiet!!! Well, it’s not the busy life of our big European cities. As a French girl, I’m a true attraction for people here (there are not many expatriates here), it’s very pleasant, I feel like I’m special!
What was you biggest surprise in the US? I would say… that American people are very kind and nice, really ! They easily start to chat with me even without knowing me.
What expression do you like to say and which sounds really American? Just saying… it makes me smile when I hear it, so I try to say it as well. I also like awesome you really have to insist on the AWE.
What is your favorite American meal? Haha, the chili five-ways of course! It’s a Cincinnati specialty (a sort of spicy Bolognese with cinnamon and chocolate on top of spaghettis with tons of cheddar!)
Which US region would you like to visit? I would really like to visit Western United States, canyons, desert… to ride on hot roads, to see some coyotes…
What does the blog bring to yourself? A lot!! I met nice people! And it’s also a way to share my experience and to talk about American culture to my friends and family. And most of all, I like blogging!
What’s your American dream? To have friends, to fit in this new life. About the same as in France actually!
All the drawings belong to Maud. Thanks again to her for answering to my questions. Visit her blog (available in English as well) at Cincinnati, Cincinnatus.
