I came back to Boston last Tuesday, very early in the morning, after a week of road trip in California with two other bloggers, Samantha and Jeanne. It was the Voyageurs du Monde travel agency that suggested us this travel project, and we had the opportunity – despite ourselves – to test the efficiency of their service: delayed flights, stolen bag (with all the photo equipment in), museum schedule to shift, in short, their on-site concierge in the United States heard about us, and lent us a good helping hand (kudos to the whole team and particularly to Emilien).
Despite these setbacks, we kept le sourire (yes, we also spoke very badly franglais during this trip). It’s strange to travel with people we do not know too much, but the alchemy happened quickly. The California sun in the middle of February – a real break for us 4 who live in the cold of the East Coast – has helped the cohesion of our collective.
On my return to Boston, a friend asked me if there was not too much competition between us. It made me smile, so let’s be clear: this blog is a hobby, really. I like to write travel articles, tips, expat stories … because it’s cool. Of course, I earn a little money with this blog and it gives me various opportunities. But as the saying goes “there is something for everyone” (yes, we also played a lot of word games during this trip). Samantha and Jeanne are on the same wavelength of the blog-hobby, so it worked out well between us.
Admittedly, we probably rushed together at the same time to make the same pictures of stuff that we thought was cliché / incredible / too cute. But at the end of the day, we drink a beer and we are heureux. Keep it real as another American saying goes. It’s just blogging.
